Miss Carrie Reams 1881 - 1905

In 1881, they moved to Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, CA on account of Caroline's health, as she suffered so severely from asthma, which was a hereditary tendency. (Her mother had it all her life). Her health was better in California but La Grippe brought the asthma on again in 1895 and she was very miserable until her death in 1905. She was a beautiful woman - long dark hair, beautiful brown eyes, and regular features, and her beautiful character was written on her face. She was intelligent firm in principal, with highest ideals. Her life was hard but she never complained, and was always loving and kind. She had a firm faith in God and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at the time of her going. John B. Hibbits, her husband was a man of sterling honesty, ardent patriotism and a ready wit. She died in Santa Barbara, CA on her 53rd birthday while he passed on in Lompoc, CA at age 75.
